Feb 8, 2024

On Day 125 of the ongoing Israeli genocide of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, Israeli missiles killed dozens of Palestinians, including women and children, and injured dozens in several parts of the devastated and destroyed Gaza Strip.

The Israeli Air Force fired missiles at many homes in several parts of Gaza City, especially in the Rimal, Sabra, and Zeitoun neighborhoods, killing and wounding many Palestinians, including women and children.

The Israeli army also fired many artillery shells at homes and buildings in the Sabra and the Rimal neighborhood.

Many Palestinians were killed and injured when Israeli drones fired live rounds at Palestinians in the alleys of the western areas of Gaza City, some of them remained bleeding after the army prevented Palestinian ambulances and medics from reaching them.

Dozens of explosions were heard and seen in the Sabra, Remal, and Tal Al-Hawa neighborhoods after the army fired missiles and shells at many homes and buildings.

Furthermore, thirteen Palestinians were killed when the army fired a missile at a truck distributing water to stranded, hungry, and thirsty families in the Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City.

Also in Gaza City, several Palestinians were killed and injured while waiting for humanitarian aid near the Kuwait Junction, south of Gaza City.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said one medic was killed and several others were injured when the Israeli army fired live rounds at them in the area between the Baptist Hospital and the Shifa Hospital in Gaza City while trying to reach wounded Palestinians in the area.

The army also killed one Palestinian and injured several others after firing a shell at them in the Development Building of the Shifa Hospital.

In Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, the army killed at least fourteen Palestinians, including five children, and injured dozens of residents, after firing missiles and shells at homes belonging to the Fahjan and Al-Mughayyir families in Tal Al-Sultan and the Saudi neighborhoods, west of the city.
. . .

In addition, the army fired missiles at the Palestinians who are camped near the border fence with Egypt, in Rafah, after fleeing their homes in northern and central Gaza.

Furthermore, Israeli army sharpshooters are keeping Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, under their line of fire, and fired many rounds at Palestinians in its yards and some of its buildings, killing at least two earlier Thursday.

. . .

The Israeli army has now killed more than 27.708 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured at least 67.147, in addition to about 8.000 who remain buried under the rubble or killed in many areas where the medics are unable to enter due to constant Israeli attacks.

'It's Mind-blowing': 1.7 Million Palestinians Escaped Israel's Bombardment of Gaza. Most of Their Homes Have Been Damaged or Destroyed

by Yarden Michaeli and Avi Scharf for Haaretz

Satellites reveal the vast devastation across the Gaza Strip. The new reality that the Israel Defense Forces' operations have created will affect the entire region for years. This is how it looks:

One of Israel's most dramatic acts in the war, which erupted following Hamas' terror attack, is the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Gazans from their homes and the destruction of large swaths of the Strip. Residents, military officials and journalists describe scenes of vast devastation. "It's like after an atomic bomb," one of them reported in Haaretz after visiting northern Gaza.

An accurate estimation of the destruction is a challenging task due to the fog of war – and as the IDF restricts entry by journalists. But it's possible to create a map of the destruction using satellite data, which shows that at least half of all the buildings in the enclave are likely to have been damaged or destroyed, according to American researchers.
Most of the destruction is in the north, but bitter fighting is also underway in the south, as is seen in the satellite data. Some 1.7 million Gazans have fled their homes during the war, and most of them are now in the south, the United Nations says. Huge tent cities have been put up along the Egyptian border. A new humanitarian, security and diplomatic reality has emerged, and it will shape the region for years to come.
