Over the past 24 hours, rescue teams and volunteers have recovered 160 bodies that were buried under the rubble of homes and businesses bombed by Israel during its 50 straight days of bombing of civilians in the Gaza Strip. Over 6,000 people are still missing.

The recovered bodies have brought the total of those killed to over 15,000, including 6,150 children and 4,000 women.

Rescue teams have been working extremely hard to pull bodies out of the rubble since a pause in the bombing began on Friday. They have virtually no equipment to work with, and have mainly been using their hands to pull the destroyed buildings off of the bodies.

At least 300,000 homes have been destroyed in the 50-day bombardment of Gaza.

Despite the ‘pause’ in fighting, Israeli forces killed three Palestinians who tried to return to their homes. Israeli forces stationed on Salah al-Din Street opened fire on Palestinians who tried to reach the north to inspect their homes and search for their missing family members, which led to the death of three people, and the injuries of others.
