On Friday morning, Israeli soldiers killed a young Palestinian man at the Rantis military roadblock west of Ramallah in the central part of the occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said the soldiers killed Mahdi Samir Mohammad Bayadsa, 29, at the military roadblock.

The soldiers refused to allow Palestinian medics to approach the roadblock before the army informed the Palestinian General Authority of Civil Affairs that the soldiers fatally shot Mahdi.

According to Israeli sources, the Palestinian arrived at the roadblock and tried to snatch the weapon from a soldier before stabbing him.

According to the army, the Mahdi arrived in a stolen car at the roadblock and attacked the soldiers who tried to inspect the vehicle, mildly wounding one before the soldiers fatally shot him.

The army added that it is investigating the circumstances of the incident to determine whether the attack was “nationally motivated or a criminal offense.”

After killing the young man, the soldiers closed the roadblock and forced the Palestinians to leave the area.
