Two Israeli sisters were killed and their mother critically wounded in a shooting attack in the northern West Bank, the military said on Friday.
One of the sisters was 15, and the other in her 20s, while their mother is 48. The family were immigrants from the United Kingdom. According to reports, a Palestinian man was also wounded in the incident.
The military said forces were searching for suspects in the shooting in the area surrounding the nearby settlement of Hamra.
The mayor of the West Bank settlement of Efrat, Oded Revivi, said in a statement that the three women were residents of the settlement, which lies south of Jerusalem. According to Revivi, the father of the family was travelling in a separate car just ahead, and was present as first responders provided emergency aid to his wife and daughters.
The incident was first reported as a traffic collision between the car in which the three women were found in and a Palestinian-owned car, but this assessment was changed after bullet holes were found in the Israelis' car.
Hamas issued a statement on Friday praising the attack, and warned Israel "against its continued aggression against our Palestinian people and Al-Aqsa Mosque."
