Palestinians reported on Saturday that settlers attacked homes and set cars ablaze in the village of Burin, near Nablus.

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that one person was lightly to moderately injured by the settlers' stone-throwing, and taken to Rafidia Hospital in Nablus.

A researcher for the rights group Yesh Din reported that some eight to 12 settlers came from the Givat Ronen outpost and threw stones at one home on the outskirts of the village before being removed from the area by Israeli forces.

They then walked to Burin and were joined by others, until a group of about 30 settlers passed by homes and threw stones at houses and cars, set two cars on fire and attacked Palestinians who tried to force them out and protect their property.

The security guards of the nearby settlements of Har Bracha and Yitzhar arrived and blocked the roads, which kept Palestinian firefighters from putting out the blaze.

According to the Israeli military, several settlers arrived in the area, and clashes began between them and Palestinian residents of Burin. During the clashes, the military confirmed, the two cars were set on fire. IDF and Border Police were called to the scene, and the clashes wound down with their arrival.

Footage filmed by residents and disseminated on social media shows Israeli soldiers and Palestinian firefighters putting out the fire and evacuating the wounded man.

Residents claim that the soldiers used smoke grenades and tear gas to disperse the local Palestinians, while they did not prevent settlers from throwing stones.

On Friday, the Palestinian Health Ministry said that two Palestinians were shot and seriously wounded by settlers, also near Nablus.

Meanwhile, there were rallies across the West Bank and Gaza Strip in support of the Lion’s Den militant group that emerged in the city, following the deadly IDF raid in Nablus on Wednesday, in which 11 people were killed.

In several locations close to Israeli military checkpoints and positions, there were clashes with soldiers – but no reports of injuries.

And the context is always the Israeli occupation & settler colonial regime that builds illegal settlements on stolen Palestinian lands & enables the armed settlers to act violently against the Palestinians with full protection & impunity.

Just yesterday, armed settlers swarmed on the south of Huwara & burned down Palestinian cars, then walked home guarded by IDF soldiers. Zero arrests!

A couple of weeks before, dozens of settlers attacks local shops with rocks, bats and metal pipes in front of IDF soldiers.

Huwara’s also filled with Israeli soldiers & checkpoints taunting its residents daily. Soldiers close down the town’s entrance at random for hours preventing cars from driving in/out.

They attack Palestinians for as little as raising a flag, but always condone settler attacks!

A joint operation, Israeli occupation troops & illegal settlers, to remove a Palestinian flag in Huwara south of Nablus. This tells you 1) settlers in occupied territory are an extension of the Israeli state/military; 2) the act is an expression of 74 years of denial and erasure
