Earlier Monday, Israeli soldiers invaded Jabal Al-Mokabber in occupied Jerusalem, demolished a Palestinian home, leading to protests, injured at least 30 Palestinians, and abducted a young man.
Media sources said several army vehicles and bulldozers invaded Jabal Al-Mokabber before demolishing the 140 square meter home of Adham Bashir.
The Israeli army and the City Council in occupied Jerusalem claimed the home was built without a permit.
During the invasion, the soldiers surrounded the home of Adham’s father and his brother and abducted a young man, Ayman Adnan Bashir.
The invasion and demolition led to massive protests in the town before the soldiers shot 25 Palestinians with rubber-coated steel bullets and caused five to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.
It is worth mentioning that on August 8, 2020, the soldiers demolished the home of Khaled Mahmoud Bashir and forced his cousin Adham Bashir to demolish his home.
Talking to WAFA Palestinian News Agency, Adham said his home was built fifteen years ago and added that the family received the first demolition order five years ago before being forced to demolish a 25 square-meter living quarter.
Furthermore, the soldiers attacked many women and children, bulldozed agricultural lands and uprooted trees owned by the family, and demolished a wall to enable the bulldozers to reach the property to demolish it.
While Israel continues to build and expand its illegal colonies in direct violation of international Law and the Fourth Geneva Convention, Palestinian communities and towns in occupied Jerusalem and various areas in the occupied West Bank continue to be denied the right to build homes and property under various allegations meant to prevent the expansion of Palestinian towns and neighborhoods.
Israel’s colonies also constitute war crimes under International Law and violate article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory.”
