Description
JERUSALEM, March 29, 2012 (WAFA) - Israeli security forces killed 115 Palestinians, 18 of them minors between January and December of 2011, according to the annual Human Rights report in the Occupied Territories published Thursday by the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories, B’Tselem.
In 2001, the Civil Administration demolished 176 housing units built without a permit in Area C of the West Bank, leaving 1,138 Palestinians homeless, including 532 minors, said B’Tselem report.
The Israeli military slightly reduced its restrictions on Palestinian movement in the West Bank in 2011, following previous elimination of some of the main checkpoints in 2009, which eased movement on the main roads linking Palestinian cities. However, Palestinians are still unable to move about the West Bank freely, said the report.
The report indicate the Israeli violation of the right to demonstrate and the suppression of weekly demonstrations in the West Bank, which included arrest of the organizers of the demonstrations, which are often popular and non-violent, as well as the preventing demonstrations before start.
In addition to arrested Palestinian demonstrators, dozens of Israelis have been arrested for taking part in demonstrations and being present in land declared a “closed military area,” said B’Tselem.
The report also noted acts of violence carried out by settlers against Palestinians and Palestinian property, adding that Israeli security forces do not always deploy in advance to protect Palestinians from settler violence, even when such violence could be anticipated.
