On Friday dawn, the Israeli Air Force fired dozens of missiles targeting several areas in the besieged Gaza Strip, especially in Central Gaza.

Media sources said the army fired more than fifteen missiles into one site in the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in Central Gaza, destroying it and causing damage to many surrounding homes and buildings.

The Air Force also fired several missiles at a site southwest of Gaza city, destroying it and causing damage to nearby homes.

The Israeli army said it fired the missiles in response to what it called “rocket fire from Gaza” and added that its missiles targeted several buildings, including one reportedly used as an underground rocket production facility.

The Israeli attacks came less than a day after a Palestinian child, Nayef Oweidat, 13, died from serious wounds he suffered last year during the Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip, and serious military escalation in the West Bank, Thursday, leading to the death of nine Palestinians, including siblings and one woman in Jenin.

The Palestinians, killed by Israeli army fire in the Jenin governorate, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, Thursday, have been identified as:

Saeb Mahmoud Ezreiqi, 24, Jenin city.

Ezzeddin Yassin Salahat, 26, Jenin refugee camp.

Abdullah Marwan Al-Ghoul, 18, Jenin refugee camp.

Wasim Amjad Aref Al-Ja’as, 22, Jenin refugee camp.

Majeda Obeid, 61, Jenin refugee camp.

Mo’tasem Mahmoud Abu Al-Hasan, 40, Al-Yamoun town.

Mohammad Mahmoud Sobeh, 30, Burqin town.

Mohammad Sami Ghneim, 28, Burqin town.

Nour Sami Ghneim, 25, from Burqin.

The soldiers also soldiers killed Yousef Yahia Abdul-Karim Mheisin, 22, in the Al-Ram town, north of occupied Jerusalem in the West Bank, during a procession condemning the Israeli onslaught on Jenin.

2 rockets fired from Gaza intercepted over south after deadly West Bank raid

No injuries or damage caused in attack on Ashkelon, nearby towns; rocket fire comes after threats of a response over deaths of 9 Palestinians in Jenin

Two rockets launched from the Gaza Strip at southern Israel shortly before midnight on Thursday were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system, the military said, hours after terror groups threatened to respond to a deadly raid in the West Bank earlier in the day.

Incoming rocket sirens sounded in the southern coastal city of Ashkelon, as well as in its industrial zone, and the nearby towns of Zikim and Karmia.

Footage showed Iron Dome interceptor missiles exploding in the air.

The Israel Defense Forces said both rockets were downed by the air defense system.

There were no reports of injuries or damage.

The rocket fire came following the deaths of nine Palestinians during an IDF raid against a Palestinian Islamic Jihad cell in the northern West Bank city of Jenin Thursday morning.

Both Islamic Jihad and the Hamas terror group that rules the Gaza Strip threatened to hit back over the deaths.

Another clip appears to show Iron Dome interceptions over Ashkelon.

A senior officer told reporters after the raid that the IDF was “ready and prepared for any scenario,” including possible rocket fire from the Gaza Strip, in response to the deadly clashes.

Over the past year, Islamic Jihad has launched rockets at Israel in response to members being killed or arrested in the West Bank.

Still, there was no immediate claim by any of the Gaza-based terror groups for the rocket fire Thursday.

According to Israeli officials, the IDF had foiled a “ticking time bomb” in Jenin on Thursday after receiving “accurate intelligence” from the Shin Bet security agency about the cell’s hideout apartment in the camp.

Nine Palestinians — including several members of the Islamic Jihad cell, other gunmen, and at least one uninvolved civilian — were killed, and another 20 were wounded in the clashes.

Nine Palestinians — including several members of the Islamic Jihad cell, other gunmen, and at least one uninvolved civilian — were killed, and another 20 were wounded in the clashes.

The clashes on Thursday morning marked the deadliest Israeli raid in the West Bank in years.

Separately on Thursday afternoon, a Palestinian man was killed in clashes with Israeli troops in the town of a-Ram, north of Jerusalem, the PA Health Ministry said.

Tensions have recently soared in the West Bank as the IDF presses on with an anti-terror offensive mostly focused on the northern West Bank to deal with a series of attacks that left 31 people in Israel dead in 2022.

Jenin is widely seen by Israeli military officials as a hotbed of terrorist activity, and has been the focus of many of the raids.

The IDF’s operation has netted more than 2,500 arrests in near-nightly raids. It also left 171 Palestinians dead in 2022, and, as of Thursday, another 30 since the beginning of the year, many of them while carrying out attacks or during clashes with security forces, though some were uninvolved civilians.

Israel says it holds Hamas responsible for all violence emanating from the Strip and generally responds to rocket fire with airstrikes against the group regardless of who launched the attack.

The last time a rocket was fired from the coastal enclave toward Israel was on January 3, following Hamas threats to retaliate against National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir paying a visit to the flashpoint Temple Mount site, which houses the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The rocket failed to cross the border.

At least 10 Palestinians were killed Thursday in Israeli military operations in Jenin and Ramallah

Israel launched a series of attacks on targets inside the Hamas-held enclave in the early hours of Friday morning, hours after five rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel, saying it targeted structures used to manufacture rockets. No casualties were reported on either side.

The exchange of fire comes after a bloody day in the West Bank in which Israeli troops killed nine Palestinians during a raid in Jenin and another person in clashes that ensued in Ramallah.

Just before midnight, two rockets fired from the Gaza Strip were intercepted by Iron Dome missile defense system. Three more rockets were fired from Gaza at around 4 A.M. local time. One was intercepted by the Iron Dome system, the second fell within the strip and the third in an open area in Israel.

Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant took to twitter early on Friday saying that "The terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip suffered a blow tonight from IDF fire in a series of attacks. I instructed our forces to prepare for action with a variety of offensive measures and high-quality targets, in case it's necessary to continue our operation until peace is restored to the citizens of Israel."

Israel's Channel 12 aired footage of Israeli interceptor missiles being launched into the night sky above the city of Ashkelon, about 12 kilometers (7 miles) north of Gaza, which is controlled by the Islamist militant group Hamas.

Nine Palestinians were shot and killed during a clash with the Israeli army in the West Bank city of Jenin, the local health ministry reported on Thursday. Following the deadly incident, a general strike was announced in the West Bank. Another Palestinian was killed by Israeli military fire in a separate incident near Ramallah.

After the Jenin violence, the Palestinian Authority said it was ending its security coordination with Israel, an arrangement that is widely credited with helping to keep order in the West Bank and preventing attacks against Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel was not looking to escalate the situation, though he ordered security forces to be on alert.
