Description
HEBRON, March 13, 2012, (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained six Palestinian volunteers from the city of Hebron, south of the West Bank, and prevented them from cleaning a piece of land adjacent to the Israeli Tel Rumeida colony in center of Hebron, local sources said on Tuesday.
They said volunteers from the agricultural department and the Hebron municipality were attacked by a settler who tried to prevent them from continuing their work on a land that belongs to Abu Haikal family, near the colony.
Jalal Ibeido, a volunteer from the Ministry of Agriculture, said the settler was protected by Israeli forces who ended up detaining the volunteers.
Residents say such acts by settles and the army usually aim at making life for Palestinians in the area difficult to force them to leave it with an intention to eventually seize their land for the settlement.
