Update: Israeli sources report that an Israeli soldier was seriously injured when he was shot by a Palestinian protester through a hole in the perimeter wall where protesters were gathered. Video footage shot from the Palestinian side of the Wall shows a hole through which a large Israeli gun was pointed at protesters, shooting randomly. As protesters try to grab the barrel of the gun and hit it with stones, one Palestinian runs up to the hole in the Wall and shoots through the hole with a small revolver.

Among the 41 unarmed Palestinians who were injured, many of whom were shot with live ammunition, one is a 12-year old child who remains in critical condition after being shot in the head.

Following the protest, the Israeli military issued a statement that they would begin bombing targets in Gaza, and would bolster the Israeli forces stationed at the border.
