Description
JENIN (Ma’an) – Israeli forces delivered evacuation and demolition orders Tuesday morning to nine Palestinian residents in the northern West Bank village of Bartaa al-Sharqiya.
Village council member Tawfiq Qabaha told Ma’an that officers of the Israeli planning department, escorted by military patrols, stormed the village early Tuesday and handed out the orders.
The orders demand evacuation of tin sheds used as barns for livestock and poultry stating that they were built without permits. The orders included supportive walls which were also allegedly built without permits.
Qabaha identified the recipients as Nur Addin Ali Qabaha, Jwad Hamdan Qabaha, Tayseer Abdullah Qabaha, Subhi Abdul-Qadir Qabaha, Amina Mahmoud Qabaha, Bilal Muhammad Qabaha, Sabri Ibrahim Qabaha, Ali Ahmad Masood and Muhammad Othman Qabaha.
A day earlier, Israeli forces detained Ammar Talib Qabaha from Bartaa at a checkpoint at the entrance to the village, the official said.
Israeli demolitions of Palestinian homes more than doubled in 2011, displacing almost 1,100 people, over half of them children, according to the UN.
Palestinians can only build on one percent of the Israeli-controlled zone Area C, most of which is already built up, while settlements continue to expand in the same zone, the UN says.
