NABLUS (Ma'an) – Israeli forces detained a young man from his home in the Salem village east of Nablus overnight and nine others across the occupied West Bank, witnesses and security officials said Wednesday.

Soldiers aided the house of Abdul Rahman Eshtayeh, 22, a student at Al-Najah University in Nablus, before he was arrested, they said.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said 10 people were detained overnight. The other Palestinians, who were not identified, were transferred to the security forces for questioning.

Among the detainees were one each from Salem and Dharaiya villages, two each from Ramallah and Beita village, and four from Hebron in the southern West Bank, she said.

22 arrested since Monday

Twelve people were arrested in raids on Monday, witnesses and the Israeli army said.

Six people were detained in al-Mughayyir village, northeast Ramallah, while three people were arrested in villages southwest of Ramallah, an Israeli army spokeswoman said.

Three others were detained in villages surrounding Hebron.

One of the men detained in al-Mughayyir had a rifle, the spokeswoman added.

Witnesses said four of the men detained in Ramallah were students at Birzeit university. They were named as Bayan Nasan, Walid Abu Alia, Musa Muhammad, and Khaled Muhammad.

Soldiers detained Jamal Abu Sneihen, 15, Ahmad Masalmeh, 15, Ayesh Ekhlel, 17, and Muhammad Masalmeh, 15, from Hebron, witnesses said.

Around 40 percent of Palestinian men living in the occupied territories have been detained by Israel at some point in their lives, prisoners rights groups say.

Israel has occupied the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem since 1967.

WEST BANK, February 15, 2012 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday arrested five Palestinians from across the West Bank, according to security sources.

They said Israeli forces arrested three Palestinians, including an elderly, 57, from different areas in the northern West Bank city of Hebron after storming the areas and raiding several houses, setting up checkpoints at several towns’ entrances.

Israeli special units and police arrested a Palestinian in his forties, Yasir Moneer from Wadi al-Joz neighborhood of East Jerusalem after beating him. They took him to Salah al-Din Street police station, according to his family.

Moneer’s family said that police raided their house early morning, didn’t allow Moneer to change his bed clothes, beat and dragged him in front of his children. They described the arrest as a gang-style brutal attack.

A number of Israeli military jeeps stormed Salem, a village east of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, and arrested a 23 year-old Palestinian student after raiding his house.

They said the soldiers confiscated the family’s laptops and cellular phones.

Palestinian media sources said that eight Palestinians have been kidnapped overnight across the occupied West Bank.

Israeli forces detained a young man from his home in the Salem village east of Nablus. Israeli soldiers broke into the house of Abdul Rahman Eshtayeh, 22, a student at Al-Najah University in Nablus and kidnapped him.

Two other brothers were kidnapped in Tubas near Jenin. The two were identified as Musharaf and Ashraf Abu Salama. In the meantime, Israeli forces kidnapped three Palestinians in Hebron in the southern West Bank. The kidnapped were identified as Mohannad Juneidi, Hamdan Taha form Hebron and Haiyel at-Til 57 years old from the nearby Al-Thahriyeh town.
