RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The Israeli military court of Ofer jail extended the administrative detention of Dr. Aziz Al-Dweik, the speaker of the Palestinian legislative council, for another six months at the pretext he poses a threat to Israel's security.

The speaker's lawyer Fadi Al-Qawasmi said he received a fax from this court telling him that it had extended the administrative detention of Dweik without holding any court hearing.

The court claimed in its fax that the speaker's presence out of jail would threaten Israel's security.

The family of Dweik slammed the decision as arbitrary aimed at undermining the legislative life in the Palestinian arena.
