On Tuesday, Israeli soldiers, accompanied by prison administration officers, attacked many Palestinian detainees in Section 6 of the Negev Desert detention camp.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said the soldiers attacked several detainees and conducted extensive and violent searches of Section 6.

The PPS added that the soldiers then moved all 80 detainees to other sections of the detention camp.

Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons are subject to constant violations and abuse, in addition to the extremely bad living conditions they face, torture during interrogation and the lack of adequate medical treatment.

On Friday, November 27, 2020, the Palestinian Detainees and Ex-Detainees Committee stated that a political prisoner, identified as, Nidal Abu ‘Ahour, 45, from Bethlehem, south of occupied Jerusalem in the West Bank, is facing profoundly serious health complications at the Ramla prison clinic, which lacks specialists and adequate machines.

Abu ‘Ahour was diagnosed with kidney failure more than ten years ago. He also has a tumor in his kidney, high blood pressure in addition to serious respiratory issues making him dependent on oxygen.

A married father of seven children, Abu Ahour was abducted by the soldiers a month prior to his death, only a few months after his release from prison, and was sentenced to one year in prison.

On November 10, 2020. detainee Kamal Abu Wa’er, 46, died of COVID-19, following years of severe medical neglect of his cancer by Israeli Prison Authorities. He suffered from throat cancer, and his health condition witnessed a serious deterioration after he became infected with the coronavirus.

On September 2nd, 2020, detainee Daoud Tal’at Khatib, 45, from Bethlehem, south of occupied Jerusalem in the West Bank, died apparently of a heart attack in Ofer Israeli prison.

Throughout the years of imprisonment, he has faced numerous health complications, including a heart attack a few years ago, in addition to undergoing open-heart surgery.

On April 22. 2020, detainee, Nour Jaber Barghouthi, 23, from ‘Aboud town, northwest of the central West Bank city of Ramallah died in the Negev Desert Detention Camp, after fainting in the shower, and Israeli soldiers failed to provide him with any medical aid for more than thirty minutes.

Barghouti was abducted by the soldiers four years prior to his death and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

On November 26, 2019, detainee Sami Abu Diak, 37, died at an Israeli hospital after he was systematically denied specialized medical care, leading to serious complications that resulted in his death.

Israel is currently holding captive at least 4400 Palestinians, including 155 children, 39 women, 6 elected legislators, 13 journalists, and 350 who are held under the arbitrary Administrative Detention orders, without charges or trial.

Among the detainees are 700 patients, many of them suffering from serious illnesses, including cancer, liver, and heart conditions.

A week ago, Jacqueline Fararja, a lawyer with the Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, has reported, Monday, that a detainee from Ramallah, in central West Bank, was diagnosed with the coronavirus, in Etzion Israeli detention and interrogation facility, south of Bethlehem in the West Bank.

In addition, the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) has reported that the number of Palestinian detainees who are infected with the Coronavirus in Israeli prisons has arrived to 132.
