Israeli soldiers abducted, late on Sunday at night, five young Palestinian men in occupied Jerusalem, during the funeral ceremony of a slain man, identified as Nour Jamal Shqeir, 37, who was killed by the army this past Wednesday.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Silwan (Silwanic) has reported that the soldiers fired many concussion grenades and gas bombs at the Palestinians when they marched in the Suwwana neighborhood, and prevented them from reaching Bab ar-Rahma graveyard.

Silwanic added that the soldiers also abducted Ehab Shqeir, Abed Shqeir, Maher Siyam, Hammouda Siyam and Ahmad Siyam.

It also said that dozens of soldiers and police officers were deployed in Jerusalem, especially on roads and alleys leading to Bab ar-Rahma, in addition to installing a roadblock near Bab al-Asbat, before preventing the Palestinians from crossing.

It is worth mentioning that, prior to releasing the corpse of the slain Palestinian approximately at 10 at night, the army said that only twenty family members are allowed into the graveyard, and once they headed there; the soldiers took their mobile phones and their ID cards.

The police also prevented the residents from carrying Palestinian flags, or chanting during the procession, and forced them to sign affidavits that would impose a 10,000 Shekel fine on each Palestinian who violates these conditions, including filming or taking pictures of the funeral procession and burial.

It is worth mentioning that Nour Jamal Shqeir, 37, was killed by Israeli soldiers on November 25, 2020, while driving through the Za’im military roadblock, east of occupied Jerusalem, after the army claimed the man tried to ram the soldiers with his vehicle.

Attorney Mohammad, who works for Silwanic, said the Israeli allegations that the young man attempted to ram soldiers are invalid and are just mere attempts to justify his death.

Nour’s uncle, Jamal Shqeir said the soldiers ordered his slain nephew to stop his car near the Za’im military roadblock, east of occupied Jerusalem, and added that he heeded to their commands and raised his hands in the air, before six soldiers, including three border guard officers, fired live rounds at him and his car.
