Car damaged, graffiti sprayed in West Bank village not far from Jewish settlement, two days after Palestinian arrested over fatal stabbing of rabbi

A car was damaged and Hebrew-language graffiti sprayed on a wall in the Palestinian West Bank village of Asira al-Qibliya in a suspected hate crime, police said Friday.

Police forces assisted by military troops were preparing to enter the village, which is not far from the Jewish settlement of Yitzhar, to search for evidence.

Images from the scene showed a car that was heavily burned under the hood. Graffiti sprayed nearby read "Jewish blood will not be forsaken."

The suspected hate crime came two days after an Israeli was killed in a stabbing, for which a Palestinian suspect was arrested.

Rabbi Shai Ohayon, 39, was killed in Petah Tikva on Wednesday, and the suspect was named as Khalil Dweikat, 46, from Rujeib, a village in the West Bank near Nablus. Police said that according to an initial investigation, it suspected that the attack had political motives.
